Accepting the position of Director for the Westernaires is Sylvia Collins.  Her objective in leading the Chorus is to continue the legacy of comradery, fun and dedication in the Choral program in Sun City West. 

​Sylvia has been a High School and Jr. High Choir director and music teacher in the Green Bay & Milwaukee, WI areas from 1965-1996.  During the same period of time, she was an Adult Church Choir Director in various churches in the same areas.  For those from Wisconsin, those city/towns include:  Suamico, Oshkosh, Brookfield, Green Bay, Wauwatosa, Shorewood, Suring, Oak Creek and Milwaukee. 

​Sylvia also was a private voice, piano and early education music instructor at Oshkosh Vocational College, WI.  She was an Adjudicator of Wisconsin Schools Music Assoc. yearly Solo and Ensemble Contest.  Sylvia received her Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Wisconsin/Madison, WI.

The Westernaires welcome Jan Woodward to the Chorus.  Jan’s first Concert as accompanist is  December, 2017.  Jan is no stranger to the music “industry”.  She is a graduate of State University of New York at Potsdam with a degree in Music Education.

She has taught music in various school systems and has taught piano to many children and adults over the years.

While in Bend, Oregon, she was Music Director and accompanist for the Community Theater.  She also was involved in more than a dozen musicals which included Music Man, Cabaret and Oliver.

Jan and her husband, Mike, have lived in Sun City West for more than five years.  She is involved in music programs at Desert Palms Presbyterian Church and is a member of their piano quartet.

She is looking forward to accompanying the Westernaires.
